Fill out our Request a Quote form for a quote on your event.

What is included in every LI Movie Nights package?

Every package includes the movie screen, projector, a DVD player, a professional sound system and a professional projectionist who runs your event. Our technician sets up, runs the show and breaks everything down afterward, so hosts in Nassau and Suffolk can relax and enjoy the movie with their guests. Concessions, party rentals and a generator can be added to any package.

What add-ons can I include with my movie night?

You can add concessions like popcorn, a generator if there is no power near the screen, and other party rental services such as tents, tables, chairs and decor. Add-ons are quoted per event, so tell us what you have in mind and we will build a complete Long Island event for you when you fill out our Request a Quote form.

How do I get a quote or book a movie night?

The best way to get a quote is to fill out our Request a Quote form. It asks for everything we need, including your date, town, venue type, expected number of guests and any add-ons you want. We will recommend the right screen size and send a quote for your event.

How far in advance should I book an outdoor movie night?

We request at least 3 weeks' notice to book your movie night, but we can usually accommodate quick-turnaround events whenever possible, so don't hesitate to ask about a date that's coming up soon. Friday and Saturday nights from late spring through early fall go fastest. Submit our Request a Quote form to check availability, and add a rain date when you book.

Do you require a deposit to reserve a date?

Yes, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your date. Once your event details are set, we send the deposit as an invoice that can be paid by check or online by credit card or ACH bank transfer, and the remaining balance is due on the day of the event. Please note that we do not accept school purchase orders.

Screens & Equipment

What movie screen sizes do you offer?

LI Movie Nights offers 12-foot, 16-foot, 18-foot, 22-foot and 30-foot screens, plus drive-in packages and an LED truck screen. As a guide, a 12-foot screen suits about 25 guests, 16 feet about 50, 18 feet about 100 and 22 feet crowds of up to about 400. The 30-foot screen is for large drive-in setups of up to about 125 cars.

Which screen size is right for my event?

Choose your screen by audience size and space. A 12-foot or 16-foot screen suits backyard parties and indoor pop-ups, an 18-foot screen fits school fields and community lawns of about 100 guests, and a 22-foot screen handles big crowds of up to about 400. For drive-ins, we size the screen to your parking lot, from about 25 to 125 cars.

Are your movie screens inflatable?

Yes, our outdoor movie screens are inflatable, which lets us put up a big screen in backyards, school fields, parks and parking lots across Nassau and Suffolk. Our technician handles the full setup and teardown. For indoor shows in gyms, churches and other halls, we use a smaller pop-up or pipe-and-drape screen sized to the room.

What is the LED truck screen?

The LED truck screen is a large LED screen mounted on a truck. Because it does not depend on an inflatable screen and a projector, it is a dependable choice for outdoor shows. LED truck events are quoted per event and availability is limited, so reach out early. Fill out our Request a Quote form to check availability for your Long Island date.

Weather & Rain Dates

What happens if it rains on my movie night?

If rain cancels your outdoor movie, we move your event to your rain date at no charge to reschedule, so pick a rain date when you book. The rain call is usually made the day before the event, or possibly the day of. If the rain date is also rained out, we honor a future event as a credit; there are no refunds. Ask about our LED truck screen or an indoor backup.

Do you have a rain-or-shine option?

Our LED truck screen is a dependable option when the forecast is uncertain, and it is quoted per event with limited availability. Indoor screenings in gyms or church halls are another weather-proof option for Long Island schools and community groups, depending on the size of the space. Mention it on our Request a Quote form and we will help you plan the best backup for your date.

Can we move the movie indoors if the weather looks bad?

Potentially, yes, depending on the size of your indoor space. If your school, church or community center has a gym or hall available, we can accommodate your event with a smaller indoor pipe-and-drape screen if necessary. Let us know about your indoor backup space when you book so we can plan the equipment and timing for both options.

Venues & Setup

What areas do you serve?

LI Movie Nights serves Long Island, including Nassau County and Suffolk County. Our pricing is based on a 25-mile radius from Farmingdale, and events outside this service area may be subject to a travel fee. From backyard parties to school fields, parks and parking lots, we bring the screen, sound and projectionist to you. Include your location on our Request a Quote form and we will confirm it.

Can you set up an outdoor movie night in my backyard? Do you do site visits?

Yes, backyard movie nights are one of our most popular events on Long Island. We need a fairly level open area for the screen. Share your location and we can measure it on Google Maps, or we may request photos if there are potential obstruction concerns. Site visits are rare and reserved for larger, more technical events.

Do I need to provide power for the movie screen?

Yes, the equipment needs a standard electrical outlet within 50 feet of the setup area. If your venue has no power that close, such as a park or open field, a generator can be added to your event. Let us know where outlets are located when you request a quote so our technician can plan the setup.

Can you do indoor movie screenings?

Yes, we set up indoor movie screenings in school gyms, churches and other large rooms across Long Island. We use a smaller pop-up or pipe-and-drape screen sized to the room, and every package still includes our projectionist, DVD player and professional sound system. Indoor screenings are a great option for winter events or as a backup when rain is in the forecast.

Can you host a drive-in movie night?

Yes! Drive-in pricing starts at $2,750 with a 22-foot screen. Drive-ins include a stage to raise the screen higher, an FM transmitter so guests hear the movie through their car radios, weighted blocks, a larger truck and more crew. We size the setup to your parking lot, so fill out our Request a Quote form for a quote.

Schools, PTAs & Leagues

Do you work with schools and PTAs?

Yes, elementary schools and PTAs across Nassau and Suffolk are some of our most frequent clients. We handle the screen, sound and projectionist, and the school or PTA arranges the movie license for its public screening. Schools and nonprofits with tax-exempt status are not charged sales tax. We accept checks, but we do not accept school purchase orders.

Can a movie night help our school or group raise money?

Yes! Fundraisers do best when your group sells its own concessions, like candy and drinks, and keeps the proceeds. We can also support your fundraising by playing a PowerPoint pre-screening before the movie, featuring local businesses that want to advertise their logo or message on screen to your attendees. If you plan to charge admission, mention it when you arrange your movie license.

Do you work with camps, sports leagues, and community groups?

Yes, we regularly work with summer camps, youth sports leagues, community and nonprofit groups, corporate events and apartment communities on Long Island. A movie night is an easy end-of-season party, team celebration or resident event. We bring the screen, projector, sound and projectionist, so organizers only need to choose the movie and invite their guests.

Movies & Licensing

Do we need a movie license for a public screening?

Yes, showing a movie at a public venue or anywhere outside your home requires a public performance license. That is true even if the event is free, and even if you own the DVD or stream the movie. Schools, parks, churches and community events on Long Island all need a license before the show.

Who gets the movie license?

The client is responsible for getting the public performance license for the screening. Licenses are usually available from Criterion or Swank Motion Pictures, which represent different studios, and costs vary by title and event. Contact them with your movie title, date and whether you plan to charge admission, and have the license in place before your event.

What format does the movie need to be in?

We play DVDs and Blu-ray discs. If you'd rather stream, you are responsible for the streaming device and account. The device must be HDMI compatible, and you'll need a good internet connection where the event is set up. Choose a title your license covers and test your disc or stream before the event if you can.

Payment

How do I pay for my movie night rental?

You can pay by check, or online by credit card or ACH bank transfer through the invoice link we email you. The invoice lists your package, add-ons and any applicable sales tax, so school business offices, PTA treasurers and corporate accounts payable teams have a clear record. Please note that we do not accept school purchase orders. Call (631) 469-3545 with any payment questions.

Do you charge sales tax?

Private clients, such as backyard parties and corporate events, pay New York State sales tax on their rental. Schools and nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status are not charged sales tax. Please send your tax-exempt certificate when you book so we can apply the exemption to your invoice before you pay.

When is the balance due?

A 50% deposit reserves your date, and the remaining balance is due on the day of the event. You can pay by check, or online by credit card or ACH bank transfer through your invoice link. Please note that we do not accept school purchase orders. If you have questions about payment, call (631) 469-3545.
